  • (00:00) hi I'm Angela Non, I'm Ariana Kempis and this is brb [Music] crying hello everyone welcome back to brb crying I'm Ariana also known as Arns and I'm Angela also known as Nins and this is our very first bonus episode that we are dedicating to all of our wonderful SOB stories so if you are a new listener usually our episodes are structured around one thing that makes us cry but in all of our episodes we also ask our listeners to submit a sob story to us for something that made them cry and honestly they've all been so [ __ ]

(00:58) cool and we are so touched that people are taking the time to be vulnerable with us and we had gotten so many sop stories over this last season that they were making our episode length like a little too long but we really just wanted to highlight all of the wonderful messages that we're getting so we figured hey what the hell let's just make an episode at the end of our second season and it'll be all of the wonderful sub stories that we had gotten over the last 10 weeks so that's what we're here to do today uh but before we dive in arens

(01:36) looks like you have some stuff that you need to get off your chest yeah I'm just fidgeting nervously yes so we are as of the time of this recording featured on [  ] Apple podcasts under comedy new and noteworthy maybe you're here because we're featured and you saw us on the list like maybe that's how you found us if so welcome love you but yeah we we love you so much um yeah so that's really [  ] cool Inc like shocking no like literally I still can't really even fathom maybe this is unnecessary detail but for a week we were like

(02:22) what for a week we were like God we have a lot of downloads there are a lot of people listening and we could not figure and that was the week where we didn't post anything on social media so I was like well what the [  ] is happening yeah um and then I noticed that when you Google beer be crying not beb crying podcast just straight up beb crying mhm we were like the top result and I was like what the [  ] is this so uh we found out maybe a week after being featured but yeah so that's really cool really [ __ ] cool I'm so thrilled that

(02:57) everyone is here I know the party just just got bigger you know I know so welcome to all of our new listeners we hope you get cozy get settled in and sit here with us in this community of crybabies that we're slowly but surely trying to build oh yeah not trying we're [  ] doing it oh we're [  ] doing it yeah and on that note we're about de this is our last episode for like two months so um you know you got two months to binge the rest of our 19 episodes and yeah so well we're going to be back in January we're going to we're doing a

(03:36) little holiday hibernation MH and we'll be back end of January good stuff lined up yeah it does take a lot of effort to put just one season together ARs and I are balancing a lot of things aside from this so every once in now we kind of just want to give ourselves Grace and give ourselves time to rest and I think that's totally in line with this whole podcast like the whole reason for us even setting out to talk about this at length is really to just understand ourselves a little bit more understand our boundaries and and know when we just

(04:15) need to take a little time out yes and we've mentioned this before we are going to follow an academic calendar so expect a winter break expect a short spring break expect a summer break but I like this Cadence and I hope that giving ourselves this kind of permission helps you all to think about can I [  ] ease up you know yeah yeah cuz we we got to recharge so we can give you that [  ] quality content this is true you know what I mean mhm but anyway with all that said we still have one last bonus episode before we dismiss you all to

(04:52) enjoy your holiday break so let's dive in let's [ __ ] do it okay I'm going to start us off mhm this first one here is what the opening sentence is message from husband of podcast host who would like to remain anonymous it's stupid and if that isn't clear enough of a clue that is clearly my husband Lou who submitted the S story mhm and here's what he said title my friends you bow to no one I am usually not a crier when it comes to movies but there is one scene in JRR token's epic three-part Lord of the Rings trilogy

(05:34) where the Waterworks flow like the river Ganges I was watching The Return of the King again and I've realized why that scene where [Music] Aragon start me off with a [ __ ] fantasy okay there's so many more I don't know how [Laughter] the reason why we are laughing so hard is because we do not know how to pronounce any of the names of Lord of the Rings so nins is just butchering every name every other word okay I I've never watched this so I can't help you okay okay I was watching The Return of the King again and I realized why that

(06:26) scene where Aragorn bows to the hobbits always gets me in my feels let me paint the scene for you after defeating the evil Lord Sauron and reclaiming the gates of Min tyth Aragorn the newly crowned king of men walks over to four unassuming Hobbits Frodo Sam wiise Mary and Pippen to pay their respects to the king they immediately bow to Aragorn a bewildered King looks and says my friends you bow to no one and responds with a deep reverent bow in that moment he honors them not as his subjects but as the real heroes of the

(07:06) trilogy you've got this literal King duudes got a sword a crown and lived Tyler as his Queen bowing to four tiny Hobbits who spent half the movie getting kidnapped beaten and constantly blamed for the shortcomings of others in that quiet moment the weight of their Journey their courage and the simple power of friendship is recognized by all this scene makes me cry because it's such a powerful moment and a reminder that the smallest of short Kings the most overlooked and counted out can carry the greatest burdens and change

(07:42) the world I guess it just strikes a nerve you feel me not only because I am of similar stature but that deep down no matter who you are you can make a difference so next time when you feel insignificant and small think of Frodo Sam WI Mary and Pippen four simple folk from the Shire reshape the world of Middle Earth uh I did not ask him to do this by the way uhhuh but there was a week where I kind of had writers block and I didn't know what to talk about for our next episode and so I asked Lou if there was ever like a

(08:22) movie that had made him cry and he was like cuz he doesn't really cry like I cry watching Great British Bake Off and he cries never really MH and he was like oh actually you know what there is this one scene and so he actually played that scene for me yeah and if you haven't seen it then you probably fall into this latter category of at least having seen Mulan and you know at the very end when the emperor bows to Mulan and everyone else it's a very similar Vibe okay but thanks Lou that was actually a really good one yeah there's a lot of

(09:04) great themes that you highlighted there about feeling like oh how could someone as insignificant as me make a big difference yeah but it's true I feel like that's so in line with our pod yeah like this is why we do you know like who knows how many people are listening but way to make it about yourself but yes I mean it's isn't at all thanks Lou thanks Lou number one fan Meanwhile my husband has not even raided us on Apple podcast all right so this next one I'm going to share from one of our cry babies luring the title is three crying

(09:44) emojis episode 10 destroyed me today this was her catching up while we were in the throws of season 2 and this is also in reference to the episode where I talk about my dog Cosmo passing so she says my family also had a dog with a similar situation to Cosmo my dog chibi jumped off the sofa one day and injured his hind legs when he got older he just couldn't walk normally and pee normally either he would cry and bark all night it really affected my mom's sleep and overall well-being she would constantly wake up in the middle of the night just

(10:18) to tend to chibi she and I would have to hold chibi up by his body just so he could pee in the pad around that time my mom was also diagnosed with cancer so she just really couldn't take care of him anymore and neither could I my mom made me take him to the vet to euthanize him because she was too scared to go herself probably was better for her not to go to because it was one to two days right before she started chemo I was holding on to chibi when the vet euthanized him the vet gave chibi anesthesia first which kind of shocked

(10:48) him and then the euthanasia was slowly injected and I just felt His Life Source gradually fade that was the hardest thing I have ever had to do I still cry when I think about him and I feel awful for not doing more to keep him with us longer so thanks Lauren for sharing this I know it's really hard like you said it was the hardest thing you've ever had to do and I think holding Cosmo while he left us was also one of the hardest things I've ever had to do she says here I feel awful for not doing more and obviously that's valid but the fact that

(11:27) you're here thinking about your dog writing in about your dog I think that you did everything you could I think that you were probably the best pet parent that Chi could have had we're thinking about you chibi thinking about you Cosmo and I hope that this episode just made you feel a little less alone in those hard feelings okay so this next one is from another crybaby Joey shout out Joey hi Joey so Joey wrote into us after listening to episode 13 where I covered Dr Michael Newton's journey of souls so this is what she said hi folks

(12:15) this is Joey I worry I'm commenting too often but y'all are putting out some thought-provoking stuff wild moment I had after listening to this week's EP on our way to meet my parents on a weekend trip and was thinking of Angela's journey of souls peace while we settled in the hotel my mom said the most topical thing and I hadn't mentioned the episode to her at all she and my dad had driven from San Diego through Nevada and Utah to Denver to meet us they're both very sensitive to energy and spirits and she often tells me when she sees

(12:51) something hello I don't want to know while we're still in the hotel out of nowhere she says I saw another spirit and Joey says I'm like girl here her energy was good not angry she was bright Like An Angel Catholic lens of course then very casually she says her Aura was a strong yellow around her like even gold like what that's not something she often sees or shares but the timing is wild you know so I told her about the colors y'all mentioned and she wanted to know all the levels I'm in shock for real anyway she's going to watch the

(13:35) show on YouTube and read the book now L rooting for yall always thank you Joey for sharing that that is so [ __ ] cool that your mom is one very in touch with energy and spirits but two that she said something immediately after you had listened to our episode in our journey of souls episode we had talked about how Dr Michael Newton had kind of revealed how the color of your aura signifies the level of advancement of your souls and yellow and gold is kind of like that intermediate range and that was something I very specifically mentioned

(14:15) so it's really cool to see that Joey's mom can validate for her dude yeah that so quickly that alignment is wild like I don't think things like that are just a coincidence it's like she like we came out with that episode she listened to it exactly and then immediately after yeah and her mom felt compelled to comment on it oh yeah yeah yeah God we can spend a whole [  ] season just talking about [  ] like that should we we might pocket that idea anyway thank you so much Joey we're so glad that you are enjoying our content

(14:50) here and uh allowing it to make you think a little bit yeah all right so this next sob story is from my cousin Angelica shout out Jelly pie so it says a park sob story I [ __ ] had a seven out of 10 cry at 7:00 a.m. this morning while quote unquote walking the dog she's not fully vaccinated yet so we basically just sit on different park benches so she can get used to seeing the park with other dogs and people my favorite pastime in any New York Park is to seek out and read park bench plaques there are some really moving ones in

(15:24) Central Park dedicated to 911 but I also really love the very personalized ones where I'll likely never know these people intimately but can sneak Peaks into their souls I find it to be very grounding that we can relate to other humans just by reading a small dedication on a park bench plaque anyways I've read SL no most of the ones in our local park but this newer plaque I came across today really [ __ ] me up like a visceral cry for a Solid 5 minutes just babbling incoherently to Jay while gasping for air in between trying to explain why I

(15:57) was crying so hard in the first place this was the plaque burn Bernie LaVine October 2021 to November 2023 our beloved Son spent his final evening here it was joyous the dates and the simple dedication [ __ ] me up same these sweet wonderful parents must be so heartbroken but I just know that they are so thankful for the two years they had with their son and while Jay and I went Ed what took this darling boy away from his parents too soon I just absolutely know that despite the grief and heartbreak these parents would

(16:38) easily choose to do it all over again because of this unending love they have for their son Bernie it made me so incredibly thankful for the lifetimes we share with our loved ones this life in all its Joy and Pain is such a blessing um so every time I read this like [  ] me up too and if I think too hard about this I will break down I think that's a pretty Universal reaction to something like this but I don't even have anything left to say like she summed it up perfectly all those [  ] feelings that was such a good one jelica

(17:15) thank you so much for writing that one thank you okay this one is from an old schoolmate of ours Karin Karen's title was Karin's late ass reactions to episode episode 3 and she wrote you made me cry this week yes I have cried or at least teared up after each episode and I am only on episode three thank you so much for sharing your experience about pmdd I had no clue this was an actual godamn diagnosis and I truly thought I was alone in this and thought it was seriously just my depression being extra my doctors advised me to up my meds and

(17:57) said that would help somewhat did but not really when you described how your husband hi Lou helps you during this time and how you had felt about this H that hit me hard I felt guilt from not being able to do these simple things I felt Unworthy of love my husband shows me during my quote episodes no words can truly Express how thankful I am for your story um this this one [ __ ] me up too when she sent me this so in episode three I had talked about my experience with premenstrual dysphoric disorder which basically sometimes gives me really bad

(18:38) bouts of depression leading up to my menstrual cycle and I remember at the time I was so nervous to even talk about that and even after we had recorded it and published it I feel still felt uneasy because I was like wow I feel so exposed I was really emotional in that episode and I didn't know if it was too much or what and then I get a message like this where it helps even just one person feel less alone mhm and oh my God I would do it a 100 times again it it breaks my heart that she says here how she felt so guilty and So

(19:26) Unworthy because of something that was out of her control like we are so worth it we are so worth all the love that we receive when we're going through hard times so Karen I appreciate you reaching out and telling your story as well and uh I'm right alongside with you we'll get through it together all right so this next one's from Caitlyn also an old family friend and for context context so me and nins growing up were part of this group of family friends it was a bunch of different families in our Middle School I don't

(20:15) know how they found each other but we would go to parties every weekend together we would go on vacations together and we spent so much of our childhoods together even though we weren't even the same age I mean this is the reason you and I are best friends today 100% we 100% owe it to this random group of family friends from our elementary school yes and we lovingly refer to this group as bangi which is kind of like a community Village kind of thing in the Philippines so the message says subject love you guys hi Angela and Ariana just

(20:49) wanted to share that I love listening to your guys' podcast and thank you for sharing with all of us I wanted to share a story with you guys of how all our parents were all together for my mom's birthday last month and it was so refreshing to see them all together like the burang guy days they all looked so happy they were all the last ones there and it made me stop and realize as much as we're getting older they are too and it made me so sad thank you guys for being so vulnerable and reiterating the fact that it's okay to

(21:19) cry so I responded to Caitlyn so I when I was typing this email I started crying because I know we've talked about this before anything that humanizes our parents and like this totally did for me because it was like realizing that our parents crave friendship and companionship just like the rest of us and life gets away from you and you get so focused on your kids and your your own little lives at home but being able to linger with each other in this way [ __ ] got me yeah that would get me too Caitlyn yeah those are really

(22:07) just like one of the most vibrant parts of my childhood all of those family parties MH and I'm sure they feel the same exact way cuz here they are still partying yeah all these years later yeah thanks Kaitlyn okay this next one is from our friend Nicole and Nicole wrote us after listening to episode 16 where Arns covered Leon Bridges Beyond and I covered Steve Burns from Blues Clues she wrote not episode 16 destroying me in the Michaels parking lot mind you this is the third time I'm having to restart this episode cuz I can't handle too much

(22:55) at once my son is asking me why I'm crying and I got ladies in their cars next to me looking so concerned loved this one y'all are killing it you guys have no idea what this pot is doing for me it is so cathartic to listen and cry with you guys every week I truly look forward to it I can tell you guys are spilling your souls and time effort and sacrifice into this work it truly does not go unnoticed the space you are giving us to be vulnerable I'm so grateful to you guys keep going so not necessar or maybe her s story was listening to

(23:32) our episode maybe that's what it was but regardless we just wanted to highlight this message because we are so grateful to listeners like Nicole who are allowing themselves to be vulnerable and are letting themselves cry as freely as they are in front of your kids in front of your kids in front of random ladies in the parking lot it's really dis stigmatizing crying it's not something that we need to be ashamed about because we all do it and that's exactly why we set out to do this podcast yeah I love that all these

(24:11) messages are thank you for being vulnerable and letting us be vulnerable too I love that because that's what we want to do here and sure we can [ __ ] talk out of our asses and just kind of like what hope that other people feel feel vulnerable too but I think that it's always nice to hear that people are connecting with we're saying yeah thanks Nicole thanks Nicole okay so this next one is from one of our friends from college and that sounds very casual but as much as we hate to admit it he's one of our best

(24:41) friends unfortunately yeah and I think nin and Lou you were eating with Darren once and you were talking about soab stories because Lou was talking about sending in a sob story right and Darren said he wanted to send one in yeah so then we badgered him for like a month and like hey where is it where is it where is it cuz we're going to [ __ ] report where is it so finally he sent this to us just in the nick of time um and then just for some context Darren is a big boxing fan yes also I just need to explain for anyone

(25:12) who didn't grow up in a Philippino household there was a time when there was a boxer named Manny Pacquiao who dominated the boxing world and I don't care about boxing apologies to those that are very passionate about it but it was just kind of like this Universal thing where every Filipino household would order the fight to their TV and watch it yeah the Filipino pride is so strong oh yes it's so strong especially when it comes to people who were just so gifted in their craft so I think this set the foundation for Darren being an

(25:53) avid boxing fan yes Darren is his name I don't think I said his name until hopefully you gathered that from the context CL okay so this says May 2015 one of the most highly anticipated events of my young lifetime Mayweather Pacquiao I'm in Vegas with family big watch party situation and the main event is about to start the fun part with boxing events is although you're guaranteed to hear the American national anthem they will sing the national anthems of the fighters competing so on this day we got both the American

(26:25) national anthem and the Philippines national anthem I've been through this routine too many times to count often times just waiting for the anthems and announcements to be over with but this time was different the whole world was tuned in the music starts to play and I couldn't control it I just started crying then crying very hard it really hit me that the whole world was tuned in in that moment the world was hearing our Anthem whether they knew about our people or not in that moment they had no choice but to know us if it was

(26:59) beautiful but painful knowing that we may never have this moment again the whole world knew who we were that day I did cry when I saw Darren's text I think that the part where he said they had no choice but to know us was so powerful we talk a lot about self-acceptance and actualization and embracing ourselves but there's something about feeling so seen and witnessed that reminds us that we're here to be in community with other people and for other people to to see us that way yeah I also viewed it from the angle of how we and I don't just mean I

(27:45) don't mean like the Filipinos at large I just mean like us even as individual people we're always so convinced that we're way too small to be recognized or valued or meant to feel important and it's not true and all of us are significant in this way and maybe maybe that's what moved him to tears because he saw that in this moment it reminds me a little bit of lose story yeah yeah yeah like feeling lesser than but why and having that moment where you're proven wrong mhm thanks Darren thanks Darren that was begrudgingly a good

(28:27) one all right right so we have one more and this is from NES who is also another childhood friend and she wrote us after listening to my coverage of the Hamilton musical mhm and she says okay so I'm on your hammy part two episode and it made me want to rewatch it but I actually really paid attention this time and oh my God bald my eyes out it made me appreciate and love what you guys are doing even more I already am a super emotional person and would cry about every little thing growing up I thought I was crazy

(29:11) or weird cuz the smallest things would make me cry but now with you guys I'm not alone and being all in my feels through every kind of emotion whether it's sad or happy tears I caught myself crying because I found out that my daughter's school does a Halloween parade across the street at the little nursing home and just thinking about how much that brightens up their day just made me cry anyways just wanted to give you girlies your flowers because your podcasts even though they make me cry every damn time is so good keep up the

(29:44) great work um loved this I I just want to touch on when you talked about how you used to think that you were weird or crazy because of how often you cried I think we're here to show that like no that just means your heart is so big it means that you are so in touch with your feelings and I'm so happy that you feel less alone because you realize that we're kind of like that too mhm yeah also I can't even like just picturing a bunch of little kids wearing Halloween costumes in a nursing home I can't I can't I don't even know what to say

(30:28) about that no yeah I think that part that you just mentioned the thinking you know you're crazy or weird like growing up for me I just like I hardcore judged myself every time I would get tied I was like God I'm so stupid like blah and so I just labeled myself as not a crier I was like no I'm just not that because like that is wrong and to be that is like unnatural yeah so I get what that feels like a suppress yeah I mean you know that's why we're here yeah no suppression here babe let it all out nope nope NOP okay well that was a really great

(31:11) batch of s stories thank you so so much to everyone who has sent us a message over the last 20 episodes MH inboxes are still and we'll always be open for anyone else that wants to send us a note you can DM us you can textt us too if you have your phone numbers you can text us um if not DM us or send a form through our website BRB crying podcast.

(32:17) little bit of a break a we bit of a break we're going to practice more accents so that we come back season 3 with just Australian is M top that's the hardest one though I bet people from Australia don't think that anyway we hope that the next two months also gives you dear listener a good rest that you have a great holiday that you bring in the new year with joy and uh you keep on crying keep on sitting with your feelings and uh we'll come back in January and we'll catch each other up it'll be sick it' be [ __ ]
